I have a new respect for elementary school teachers after spending 45 minutes teaching Junior Achievement to 24 third grade students. The kids are so full of energy - generally focused in a positive manner.
The teacher was my daughter who is in her third year of teaching. She runs an excellent classroom (not that I'm biased) and was a big help to getting control of the classroom a couple of times. I'll spend the next four Fridays with the class teaching them about "The City".
There are lots of fun activities and the Junior Achievement program provides all of the needed materials. So if you are looking for a rewarding experience and want to help shape the leaders of tomorrow (but don't want to be a full time teacher) then Junior Achievement might just be the ticket for you. They are always looking for volunteer classroom mentors.
