This movie was the 2000 Best Picture Academy Award winning movie. I really enjoyed this movie. It held my attention from beginning to finish. Kind of a love story but more of a story about honor and revenge. It does have several graphic and gory fight scenes.
The origin of the title is easy to discern as the movie centers around the leading mans (Russell Crowe) journey from being a general in the Roman army to being a slave and gladiator, where he wins the hearts of the citizens of Rome.
